David Zid, BA, ACE, APG
Certified through ACE as a personal trainer and APG as a functional fitness trainer, David Zid has spent more than a decade training hundreds of clients, specifically the older adult, and teaching other personal trainers his unique exercise methods. David developed a special interest in working with clients diagnosed with PD, one of whom was Dr. Thomas Mallory, a renowned orthopedic surgeon. When Dr. Mallory was diagnosed, David designed a PD-specific exercise program that minimized and appeared to even reverse his symptoms, which included stooped posture, slowed movement and tremor. The program proved to be so beneficial that David and Dr. Mallory became determined to make it available to all people with PD.
Jackie Russell, RN, BSN, CNOR
In her 30 year career as a registered nurse, Jackie Russell is credentialed with professional achievement in perioperative nursing (CNOR) and ACLS certified. Touched by PD when her mother-in-law battled the disease, Jackie became professionally involved in the PD community while working for Dr. Thomas Mallory. He introduced her to David and asked her to collaborate with him on translating their PD exercise program into a book and DVD. She is passionate about spreading the message of hope that daily exercise can empower people to face this disease with a proactive attitude. Exercise is now their “trump card,” allowing them to believe “I may have Parkinson’s but it does not have me.”
